Ann Hagman Cardinal

I have been affectionately called “The Muse Dominatrix,” because of my unique gift of being able to encourage and inspire my fellow writers to make writing a daily adventure, rather than something they find themselves avoiding (believe me, I’ve done it myself, “Gee, I think I’ll clean under the sink! Or rearrange the spice cabinet, yeah!”). But my specialty and passion is marketing for writers. Most writing programs don’t teach us some very important skills: how to promote ourselves and our writing. Among the things I can help you with are:

  • Finding resources for getting published
  • Preparing materials for sending out to agents/editors
  • Writing a pitch letter
  • Writing a competitive market analysis
  • Promoting your book
  • Blogging to promote your writing

And most importantly:

  • Getting past self-inflicted obstacles to getting published

Ann Hagman Cardinal is a writer, blogger, and columnist, as well as the Director of Marketing and Admissions for Vermont College of Fine Arts. Ann has an MFA in Writing from Vermont College, and her first novel, Sister Chicas, was released from NAL/Penguin in 2006. She has just completed her latest YA novel, La Mangosta: Pirate Hunter.
